she's back!

Yes! Just a quick note to say I'm back and busy as ever. What now with my normal 40 hours a week job, plus my MySpaz housekeeping duties, and now helping run an indie record label..... I think I'll need a vacation soon! If anything, a moment's rest. I think I'm coming down with something... must. get. sleep.

In the meanwhile..... check out the photo above. My Univox Records office... comfy eh? We like to call it the Texas Division - we're going national!

it's not easy being clean

Today is the first day of my Master Cleanse. It's 2:55pm and I'm hungry. So 9 1/2 more days of this and I'll be able to eat again. In the mean time, and I know this is probably suicidal, I like looking at pictures of food on Flickr.

Flickr is totally my anti-drug. Actually, it's my anti-everything. Yesterday was a ridiculously slow day at work and after cleaning and throwing lots of drawings away, I spent my time on Flickr looking at photos of cupcakes. There are a ridiculous amount of pools just about cupcakes. It makes me happy beyond all belief.

Was gonna meet up with Joy, Kristy, and Kristy's "boyfriend" for dinner and to see Transformers but then the sky decided to open up and empty itself onto Houston. Had to leave work early to make sure we got home before serious flooding. Of course, that wasn't before multiple streets were already flooded and I sat in flooding waters and traffic for an hour before getting home. Houston - if it's not sorching sun it's flooding water. Oh what a metaphor for my master cleanse.

double meaning

It's 3:26am and I've been having the most horrible time trying to get to sleep after getting back from my LA trip. The thing is, I don't think I'm suffering from jet lag as even if it were LA time, I'd be out cold. Mayhaps it's my body getting worked up and anxious about going back to work and the 7th Harry Potter book coming out (yes, I really did just say that). Either way, it's Design Sunday and this one is a great find!

The "Come In"/"Go Away" doormat! Designed by SuckUK. Check it out here. Got the tip from the July/August 2007 issue of Dwell which had this to say about the mat, "For those who still delight in The Da Vinci Code's graphic wordplay...Technically, it's an ambigram, but basically it's a 'Do Not Disturb' sign for your front porch." Also made from all natural materials (we all know the little "BE MORE SUSTAINABLE" bent I'm on)! Check out the rest of the SuckUK site for more products such as: The smoker's mittens, sun in a jar, and something called "Graffiti Your Own Train."

And now for some Flickr finds: Shaft + Touch + untitled + when you're sleeping + X

Of course, I have to mention the release of my latest podcast episode: TiFFcast Episode Eleven. Not only do I think it's the best podcast to date production wise, I am very excited that it was with a great musician and friend, Valente. Check out this great episode and hear straight from the creator's mouth how he views music (and best of all, I hardly talk at all!). There's also a live acoustic performance that is sure to blow you away.

10. Podcast interviews
11. Yummy new music
12. Best orange juice EVER!
13. Redwoods
14. Tofu scrambles
15. Music stores & lots of new CDs
16. Scarves
17. Thrift stores and second hand shops
18. Carl's Jr.
19. Golden Gate Bridge
20. Starry nights
21. Wonderful friendiepoops

Sadly, I didn't keep up with my photo-a-day project so I'm starting over at the beginning of July - to be completed in its entirey. I'm so bad at big long blogs. I don't know how Immi does it, but some things to look forward to.... Map the Music is coming to its final days of filming and you can catch a retelling on their blog. Also, coming up soon is my TiFFcast interview with musician Valente.

Went to see Live Free or Die Hard with Joy. It made me so happy!! Mac was hilarious in it and Bruce Willis is... well... awesome. This movie did exactly what I expected it to, nothing more and nothing less. I like it when things blow up.

queen tiff! long may she rule!!

Quick update: Yesterday was full of shopping goodness. That's right, we went to the store THREE times! The first was to buy bananas and flowers for Valente and his loverly (and way hot) gf, Grace who were cooking lunch for us! It was yum and we also got liiiiiiiiiiiiive music. Huzzah. Then off it was for gelato and record store wandering. Back home then to Casa de Hale for important Map the Music video conference and catching up with Tina who was busy working on the doc in Boston and Amy who just got back from her trip to Vegas and Sundance!

Today's plans are going to yet ANOTHER market, return some movies, get some foodie, run a few errands that we need to take care of before our trip to San Francisco to see my homies of Temposhark, then Sam has to go to work for a couple of hours and then off with more fun with our uber secksi Italian friend!!

Now the Samster aka Natural Chocolate Cherry is calling for me to get a move on, so more updates later!!

Pictured above are our macs, Lola and Natasha. They're BFF!

they looked like giants

Well I'm here safe in LA and what did Sam and I do first? (Well, besides make fun of each other) Go to Sushi Dan of course!! Sweet sweet stuff. Makes my heart sing.

I didn't think it would be so hot in LA now but it's just like Houston! So much for hoping to get away from the humidity. Oh well, San Francisco will be cooler (fingers crossed). Gonna take it slow for today - really tired! And start fresh tomorrow with going to the market, possible sight-seeing (no definite plans yet), and Valente's for some yummy home cooked Italian foodie with perfect company, mayhaps some live music, and Pictionary (or I'm going to try anyway)!

So it's off for a quick nap, a shower, and probably some more napping. I'm getting old! But hey, it's a vacation so gotta get the relaxing in somewhere.

packing

This time tomorrow... I will be sleeping... but in LA! Oh ya, I'm so cool.

P.S. Potty @ midnight in Houston at the IMAX on sale now! I will be there with at least 9 other people. And yes, my cape.

June 13, 2007

it's so hot outside

When I get home from work I just want to get naked and lay there. Fortunately for you... I don't.

Drove around town all this week getting field verifications for spaces. Documenting electrial work, lighting, and braving a construction site WITHOUT a hardhat and my red pointy shoes (on sticky concrete - yuck!). Tomorrow is no different. I know I have at least one carpet meeting (exciting, no?) and one more field verification. Luckily all my trips have taken me by the Whole Foods on Voss for lunch grabing although sadly, no one's chicken salad can come close to mine! It's always disappointment to try. But I must say, their fruit salad.... yum! I especially like the addition of berries. I like berries (especially on tarlets).

ANYWAY! Cleaning break over! Franz Ferdinand just popped up on iTunes shuffle and I gotta take advantage of it - they make me want to jump around and do stuff. Quckie about music.... got new headphones for Rudiger (my iPod of course) because the ones that came with him fell apart - literally. They're so freaking good!! Nice job stepping it up a notch Apple, I salute you.

Speaking of stepping it up a notch, did everyone get a chance to see Steve Job's Keynote Speech for WWDC 2007? Here for those of you who haven't. I must say, I never thought I would be excited about an operating system but OS X Leopard? Helloooooooooo beautiful. AND you know it's gonna be kick ass because, well... instrumental "Goodnight & Go" is being used in the demo videos.

Okay, enough pantyfanning. I've really got to get back to cleaning, Franz Ferdinand is done and now Frou Frou's telling me to get back to it. Because "I'm high enough from all the waiting...." Okay Immi! Keep yo pantaloons on!

angry taco bell eating*

*And that's why I feel sick. Although, not as sick as my brother Phillip should be feeling as he ate dinner and then went out with me and got 3 quesadillas, a taco, and nachos. I bet him $5 he couldn't eat it all. Boy was I surprised and sick when he stuffed the last of it into his mouth. So why were we eating Taco Bell? Because we want to stuff gross things down out throats when we're angry and watch movies like... Josie and the Pussy Cats - which is what I was watching while I ate gooey yellow/orange stuff on little bits of styrofoam shaped into triangles.

At least I have friendiepoops to vent to when the others piss me off. Now I just need to move to LA and grow bananas to keep them happy.

ANYWAY! Pictured above is... Temposhark (now imagine me saying it in Rob's British voice)!! This is the artwork for their iTunes release of The Invisible Line out July 16th! The physical release will be sometime this fall but if you're in the US, they're touring with Darren Hayes (yes of Savage Garden goodness) RIGHT NOW and have some physical copies at the merch table. Go here to see if they're gonna be anywhere near joo!

Now off to listen to 'Hide & Seek' because ... well, sometimes you just need to.
